A teenage girl has been arrested after the body of a newborn baby was discovered in a rubbish bin yesterday morning in Orlando East.
The body was discovered by rubbish collectors.
“After some investigation we discovered that the girl who lives where the baby was discovered had been pregnant and had no explanation where her baby was,” said Communications Officer Kay Makhubela.
According to Makhubela a case of concealment of birth has been opened against the girl.
“At this moment we do not know if the baby was alive or died when it was dumped in the bin,” he said.
The suspect is to appear at the Orlando Magistrate court soon.
