The revival of SANCO is aimed at helping residents

SANCO ready to help residents.

With the official re-launch of the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) in Chiawelo Ward 12, the organisation’s chairperson Abram Mowenda said gone are those days residents would be suffering to get any assistance relating to civil matters.

Mowenda said now that the organisation has people to work on helping residents with their daily issues, they will continue with their weekly meetings to listen and assist residents.

“We are dedicated, ready and willing to help residents with their different social and civil matters that are affecting their daily lives and the only thing that we want is for residents to cooperate with us.

“Even though we were on break, we had lots of people calling us and seeking assistance relating to the illegal sales of houses, conflicts among families, assistance with application of personal identity documents, legal matters and also developmental issues in their areas.”

Mowenda said: “At the moment we are still in discussion with the school at Basani so we can get the permission to start using the old hall or class we were using before so people can reach us and get assistance with their daily problems.

“Our focus now is to unite and bring peace in our area and make sure that we work hand in hand with people who have a common vision with us, which is to improve and develop the lives of the ordinary residents in Chiawelo, Phiri, Mapetla and other areas in Soweto.”

Mowenda said nothing has changed regarding their meetings and time, all the meetings will be held every Thursday from 4pm.
