Eskom may need to load shed this winter

Eskom appeals to communities to use electricity wisely.

The national power utility Eskom experienced a strain in its national power supply on May 15 and load shedding took place as a result.

Looking towards the rest of the winter, the power utility says it aims to make sure that demands are met but if the demand becomes too much for the supply, the power utility may resort to load shedding.

To make sure that demand doesn’t outstrip supply, the power utility appeals to communities to use electricity wisely and to save electricity as much as possible.

In the case of load shedding, Eskom has made a schedule available which will guide consumers on what to expect.

The schedule has three stages which range in severity. Stage one has about five days of load shedding in a month and the second stage has more days of load shedding and for longer hours on those days.

Load shedding in Zola will take place in the evening from 6 pm till 10.30pm on the following days: May 30, June 4, June 9, June 13 and on June 18.
