Lets not be embarrassed to discus Aids – resident

Young people given a chance to raise concerns over HIV/Aids.

Phiri born Bongani Phakathi has introduced and officially launched an interactive network and chat programme called SASI Talk Show in his area to tackle issues relating to HIV / aids.

The programme gives young people a chance and platform to raise awareness and concerns and also gives guidance and ideas as to how they can fight the spread of HIV / Aids in their areas.

“The only way to fight and win the against the spread of HIV / Aids is to interact and talk professional with the youth, give them a platform to raise their concerns, argue, debate, talk and discuss issues that they think are important.

“From there then there will be a fair chance for a HIV / Aids free generation because they would have shared information and advices as to how to stay healthy and safe from the disease.”

Phakathi said the programme was well received by young people in his community.

“I’ve decided to incorporate the programme with the soccer and netball programmes that we host in our organisation and we knew it that if we can merge the two, then we will reach a large number of people who will share lots of vital information with us.

“So far, young people have shown great interest in joining us and participating well in in the programme and I’m happy that at least we are heading in the same direction with them,”he said.

Phakathi said they will soon visiting other schools and hosting the SASI campaigns in other areas so that the information and knowledge can be well spread out and reach everyone that they are targeting.
