Residents brave the early morning cold to cast their votes

Cold autumn weather couldn’t stop residents from voting.

Residents from Pimville braved the early morning weather to cast their vote at different polling stations in the township.

A makeshift tent at the Kliptown Flats saw residents waking up early to cast their votes.

Hilda Masondo (67) from Pimville Zone Four said she had been voting since the first democratic elections in 1994, and said many people fought hard so that everyone can get a chance to vote.

“People died for this freedom, so I don’t understand people not voting,” she said.

Sam Mofokeng (35) said he wanted to come early to vote so that he gets it done.

“The cold weather couldn’t keep me at home, I had to come and cast my vote,” he said.

Clement Motshwene (28) said he was happy to cast his vote because he wanted to make a change in the country.
