A premature baby was found abandoned at Dumezweni Primary School on Monday.
The baby was found by pupils of the school while they were playing and raised the alarm.
A resident, Charmaine Vukeya was one of the first people on the scene.
Vukeya said that she doesn’t understand why someone could be so inhuman.
“The baby was a full grown baby with hair. The poor thing was wrapped into a plastic bag with blood all over and the intestines were all over the place,” she said.
Vukeya said that the time they discovered the baby, the rats had already eaten half of the legs.
“I urge the person who did this to come out because they need help. We are not judging the mother, I ask her to come out because she needs counselling. As an outsider I am traumatised and I don’t know how the mother must feel,” she said.
The spokesperson for the Diepkloof Police Station Captain Phephi Matlou-Mteto said that they don’t have a suspect in custody yet, a case had been opened.
