The James Mpanza Legacy Foundation was visited by a group of Gauteng tours, The Development Agency and the Department of Arts and Culture last Wednesday.
The intention of the visit was to introduce James Mpanza Legacy Foundation and lesser known sites to Gauteng tour operators.
Twenty tourist companies visited The Mpanza Foundation to learn about the history of Mpanza with the intention of including James Mpanza Legacy Foundation in their tour routes.
“This is going to be an economic boost to the community of Orlando. As more tourist will visit Orlando. It will give job opportunities to the hospitality industry, arts and craft and also to performers,” said Thshenolo Mokhele, chairman of the James Mpanza Legacy Foundation.
Mokhele said six tourist companies have so far adopted the Mpanza house as one of their tourist routes.
“We are going to have more tour companies coming to visit the Mpanza house on May 23. We plan on educating as many tour companies about the history of Mpanza,” he said.
Mokhele added that this will not just create job opportunities but it will also preserve our history.
