Democratic Alliance hosts Ayisafani rally in Jabulani

DA preaches change.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) hosted their ‘Ayisafani protest march and rally at the sports facility behind pace secondary school.

The march was aimed at making the DA more visible but also to state that the current government is not the same as the Mandela and Mbeki administrations.

The burning issue of the day were allegations that the SABC would pull out the DA’s advertisement titled Áyisafani’.

DA leader, Helen Zille said that what the SABC was doing was an old tactic put in place to make sure that they are not questioned.

“This is simply censorship and abuse of power.

“The South African constitution clearly states that every party has a right to free and fair campaigning.

“The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has said nothing about the advertisement infringing on viewers rights and only ICASA has the right to censor such content,” Zille said.

Mmusi Maimane was one of the guest speakers and said that the DA is committed to promoting freedom of speech and expression, cut down corruption and will reduce the occurrence of police brutality.

The rally consisted of about 3000 DA members from Midvaal, Mogale city, Joburg and other areas from Gauteng South.

Nonhlanhla Sifumba is the Proportional Representative (PR) councillor of Jabulani and said that the aim is to make sure that the party secures more votes by spreading the word about the DA.
