Police to continue with school searches

Police to intensify school searches.

The school search campaign launched and introduced by Moroka Police Station to fight crime at school will continue when the schools re-open for a second semester.

This was announced by the station’s communications officer John Serala who said since it was launched it has brought greater results.

“Yes the schools are closing, but we are not closing as police, we are always available to fight crime and that’s what we will continue doing at all times and nothing will stop us.

“Our sector vehicle will continue to patrol and visit the schools in the areas in which we operate to check if there are no illegal activities taking place in those schools.”

Serala said: “Then when the schools re-open, we will then continue with our school class search where we visit different schools in our areas and search for illegal substances and weapons which can put other children’s lives in danger.

“During the holidays, we still urge parents to monitor their children for any illegal activities or abnormal behaviour and immediately report the case at the nearest police station.”

Serala said the previous campaigns have played a role in assisting them in the fight against crime at school.

“So far since we started with school search campaigns, we have confiscated knives, drugs, dagga and other dangerous weapons from pupils at different schools.

“That has really motivated and inspired us to keep doing our work in the fight against crime at school and we wont stop until we decrease crime at schools.”
