Mayor, First Lady open Slovoville Clinic

New clinic for Slovoville.

The City of Joburg’s executive mayor Parks Tau along with first lady Bongi Ngema Zuma cut the ribbon in the opening of a clinic in Slovoville last week.

The R16 million clinic construction began last year.

It has 21 consultation rooms, an emergency room, drug storeroom, store for stock and linen room, counselling room and waiting area.

A lot of people are expected to benefit from the clinic and to some, the opening of this new clinic marks the end of having to travel long distances to Dobsonville’s Green Village Clinic.

Mayor Tau said” This is a state-of-the-art clinic and it is a service that residents have longed waited for and as a city we delivered.

“The community of Slovoville and surrounding areas will benefit from this clinic.

Tau said it is up to residents to look after the clinic, ensuring that it’s secure and clean, for use even in the generations to come.

“The city has delivered direct to people’s desires in Slovoville and we continue to develop the city into a state-of-the-art,” said Tau.

MMC for Health and Social Development, Nonceba Molwele said residents in Slovoville would travel about 7 kilometres to the Green Village Clinic and 10 kilometres to Leratong Hospital.

Molwele said, “We have areas in the city that lack clinics; therefore it is important that those who have such a facility look after it efficiently.”
