Martins killers sentenced

Family of Tracey-Lee are happy that justice has been served.

Tracey-Lee Martins will especially be remembered by her father Andre Balutto for her dignity and support.

Martins was killed last year by two men in her home in Klipspruit.

The killers have been sentenced to 15 and 23 years.

“This week has taken its toll on me but I am happy that justice has been served,” Balutto said.

Martins and Balutto had a wonderful relationship and she always kept her hand over him.

“We both were procrastinators but she (Martins) always made sure that I wouldn’t linger on one thing for too long.

“In our last conversation she asked me on the progress of activities that I put aside,” Balutto said.

Dealing with the death of Martins was never easy for the family.
Balutto still misses their morning conversations.

Her family are satisfied that justice took its course but believes that the killers should have gotten life sentences.

Balutto saw his daughter’s murderers for the first time on Monday and was amazed that such young and innocent looking people could have committed such a horrible crime.

He couldn’t believe their arrogance and lack of remorse.

Balutto said he heard that more people were implicated in the death of Martins but didn’t want to get involved in theories for the sake of her dignity.

“I’d like to see others who were involved to be brought to book,” Balutto said.
