Mother sees daughter die

Hit and run claims life of an 11-year-old.

Shazel Wicks (11) was killed after the driver of a speeding car bumped her and drove away.

Urshula Wicks, her mother was called to the scene where her dying daughter lay.

“I saw how Shazel died, I heard how her heartbeat faded,” Wicks said.

“I don’t know where the car came from but I just heard tyres screeching and a loud bang,” said a witness.

Wicks was hit by the back of the car, flew over the car and was dragged a few metres.

The driver apparently stopped a few metres from where the girl was laying, saw the condition of the girl and drove away.

Shazel apparently saved her younger brother’s life when she pushed him out of the way of the speeding car.

The seven-year-old is traumatised by the incident said Wicks.

“This is a very difficult time for the family, I don’t know how I’m going to cope,” said Wicks.

She said she wants to see the driver who allegedly killed her daughter.

“All I want to tell him is that he hurt me, maybe he could have saved her life had he not driven away,” Wicks said.

Wicks said she will miss the letters that Shazel always wrote for her.

Shazel was laid to rest on Saturday.
