School gets robbed during fun day

Fun walk turns into an armed robbery at Bosmont Primary School.

Bosmont Primary School hosted their annual grandparents fun walk, this past Thursday which ended with the school being robbed by unknown assailants.

Faried Domingo from the Bosmont Community Police (BCP) said, “We are assisting SAPS in the investigation and were on the scene moments after the robbery occurred.”

No arrest have been made and the investigation is on-going.

“Evidence shows that suspects were dropped and picked up, this is after viewing the street video footage, said Domingo.

Mark Montgomery, a witness that was only metres away from where the robbery happened said some of the children were in the quad area which is situated right next to the schools office, this is where the two men entered and took an undisclosed amount of money.

“For a good 15 minutes there was chaos, parents are trying to find their children and children trying to get away,” said Montgomery.

Candice Roberts a parent said, “I never received any communication from the school with regards to the robbery, if it wasn’t for whatsapp I wouldn’t have known about it.”

“I work very close to the school and I left work immediately after reading the message to go and check if my daughter was okay, ” said Roberts.

“We are aware of the incident that occurred at Bosmont Primary School.

“A case has been open at the police station of armed robbery.

“No injuries have been reported.

“District officials were at the school to provide de-briefing for affected teachers, administration staff and pupils,” said Phumla Sekhonyane spokesperson for the Department of Education.
