Report crime anonymously via suggestion box

There are other ways to report crime, police urge residents to make use of suggestion boxes at police station.

For people who want to report crime but fear for their identity, it’s about time they know about the suggestion box found at the police station.

By use of the suggestion box people can write down all the information necessary for police to work on and other details of a crime.

This will ensure that their identities are kept a secret by police.

Dobsonville police communications officer Mzwakhe Xazi said the community can report crime through the suggestion box placed at the Client Service Centre (CSC) right at the station.

He said the communications officer will read the suggestion to get an understanding of the matter before taking the next step.

“It is important to state where, when and what is that you’re reporting for police to be able to work on the information,” said Xazi.

People can also report crime by sms, simply send the word crime to 32211 or contact the crime stop line on 08600 10 111.
