Brawl with police

A scuffle between police, tavern owners and residents broke out when police attempted to close a tavern which operated after hours.

While patrolling in Freedom Park last weekend, police came across a tavern that was operating after the hours it is allowed to.

“The police raided the tavern, confiscated the liquor and arrested the person who was dealing in liquor,” Captain Phillemon Khorombi said.

The police were then attacked, their vehicles were damaged and residents who assisted police got injured.

“Murders, rapes and robberies take place in the early morning hours when taverns are still open,” Khorombi said.
