Family misses Zakhele

Family still coming to grips with the loss of a humble man.

The Mkhonza family says they have lost a true pillar in their family and it is an uphill battle recovering from the loss.

Zakhele Mkonza’s passing made headlines due him being a public figure but few know the influence he had to those closest to him.

“He was the kind of person who would overlook what we know as a family budget and take out money buy food for us, even if he was struggling himself.

“He was the most selfless person I’ve ever had the honour of knowing,” said his sister Nontlantla Mkhonza.

According to her, he was a humble churchgoing individual from a very young age and begun drifting after realizing the skill he had in driving.

“To show that this was his God given talent, Zakhele used to drive for the company Neotel and did drifting as a sport.

“He earned his money and became the pillar of our family through using his talent,” said Mkonza.

Zakhele’s mother Thoko Mkonza says he was one of the few individuals she knew who was readily available to help.

“He would say to me; mama call me or send a please call any time and I’ll be there.

“And sure thing he would avail himself, or call immediately after I sent a please call.

His mother says she has lost both a son and a leader because Mkhonza would lead the younger family members in their path of faith.

According to her, the loss has echoed to extended family members and to family friends, she says Zakhele was a humble legend with a big heart and will truly be missed.
