School search victory

Police raid schools.

Moroka police joined by the JMPD, patrollers, Community Policing Forum, Youth Desk and sector managers braved the cold weather recently to conduct school search visits at Tlhatlogang Junior Secondary School and Vuwani High School.

The aim of the visit was to give school pupils an educational talk on drugs, crime and dangerous weapons and after that a school search was done.

Communications Officer of Moroka, Constable John Serala, said: “At Tlhatlogang Junior Secondary School we did not find anything dangerous on the pupils.

“We just confiscated cell phones and handed them over to the teachers as they cause disruptions in the classrooms.

“The operation then moved to Vuwani High School where we only found one knife and a dagga plant, which was uprooted, behind the school .”

Serala said the success of the these school search visits was due to their previous school visits which took place a couple of weeks ago with SANCA and other organisations in the area, to speak to the pupils about drugs and crime.

He said this showed that their visits to schools were improving the way pupils conduct themselves and they were happy to see that the children are listening to them and are changing for the better.

“We will continue with these visits to help in improving safety and the school environment for all our pupils and teachers,” Serala said.
