Emergency services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said: “We are and we will be attending to people who have been affected in Kliptown and other areas in Soweto, the number has gone up, there are about 158 people who were relocated to a nearby community centre.

“Our emergency personnel are monitoring the most critical river streams such as Jukskei, Kalfontein, and also Klip Valley.”

The weather service has issued flood warnings in many parts of the country as more rain is expected to fall throughout the week.
