Campaign to motivate youth

Youth desk to tackle social issues such as rape, back-door abortion, bullying and drugs.

Moroka Police Station’s Youth Desk will soon embark on a massive youth motivational campaign and school visits in all the areas it operates in.

According to the organisation’s chairperson Lebo Matome, they are still visiting schools and trying to get available dates as to when they can visit and give talks to pupils.

“We have campaigns lined up for most young people who are being troubled by social issues daily.

“We will be visiting them at schools and discussing social issues such as rape, back-door abortion, bullying and drugs.”

Matome said: “To make these campaigns more resourceful and informative, we have teamed up with different organisations such as SANCA, Victim Empowerment Centre (VEC), Mofolo Clinic and Mo Afrika Ihlokomele.

“We hope that the information that we are going to share with these youth will be beneficial to their personal lives, their education and also help them in dealing with peer pressure.”

Matome said they are inviting other young people to join them in the campaigns so they can also share and learn some great life experiences.

“We want other young people to come forward and join us in all the campaigns that we host at the station for their own benefits.”

Young people who have the interests to volunteer and join the campaigns are encouraged to contact Matome on her office at 011 527 0100.
