Domestic violence on spotlight

Moroka police pledge to fight domestic violence.

Moroka Police Station has thrown its weight behind the call to condemn and fight the rocketing number of domestic violence cases in the areas that it operates in.

The station has since launched a pledge board which aims to motivate and encourage more people to work hard.

The station spokesperson captain Andile Moshana said that it was the right time a step was taken in the fight against abuse.

“This pledge will inspire, motivate and encourage all crime fighting forums in our station to play a huge role in condemning domestic violence.

“We have lots of campaigns that we have put in place to help us to do that with no failure, but a motivation must be there to keep us all going and no matter how challenging this will be we will win this fight.”

The station communications officer John Serala said they already have places where the domestic violence is high.

“We have areas that we have targeted so far and we are sure that we will work well and come out with great success out of those areas, there is no crime that we cannot deal with and win.

“The only thing that we need now is cooperation from residents to come forward and work hand in hand with us because alone as police officers we can’t win this fight at all.

“There are many ways where residents can work with us, either by joining youth desk or Community Patrolling Forums (CPF) or come volunteer at any crime fighting campaign that we host.”
