Public relations officer for Dorljota Taxi Association, Zeblon Simelane has confirmed that taxi tariffs will increase on March 3.
Simelane said all Dorljota’s routes will be increased by R1.
He said petrol and other aspects of the economy are the main cause of this anticipated increase.
“The last taxi tariff increase was in 2011.
Simelane said” There are a lot of things that Dorljota does for the community like providing free transport at funerals and awarding bursaries to three best performing pupils every year.
“We do this from our pockets and this forms part of giving back to the community,” he said.
He said commuters should understand that this is a business they are running and that keeping up with the markets is the only way to survive.
