Ashley Sauls, station manager of Eldos FM is challenging all leaders from the community to take part in a 3km run on February 23.
As part of Eldos FM’s slogan ‘For the Greater Good’ the run will take place for doing just that, running for the greater good.
It will be held in conjunction with the Township Marathon but not part of the marathons.
“We (Eldos FM) aim to be catalysts for social change,” Sauls said.
Eldos FM was the media partner when top pupils received cash prizes and are in the process of working with the community to bring their slogan to life.
“We are very intentional to be visible,” Sauls said.
He said the station will be working towards changing the atmosphere in Eldos, not only by playing good music but by providing positive information.
“If the right seed is planted in the right ground but in the wrong atmosphere, it won’t grow.
“Eldos has the right seed and ground but the wrong atmosphere but we have the means to change the atmosphere,” Sauls said.
He knows that it will be challenging task but will be worth every effort.
The 3km walk will be one of many projects.
Sauls says he cannot do it alone hence he is calling on leaders to take charge of their surroundings.
“We will not be running a race, rather supporting each other, just like we will do in reality,” Sauls said.
He said that he expecting 100 leaders to take part in the run where they will enter the stadium as a unit.
“When we look back, we as leaders can say we done it, this is symbolic of the leaders running together to fight the negative,” said Sauls.
