Assembly turns into an awareness campaign

Emshukantambo Senior Secondary School pupils educate their peers on safer internet use.

Emshukantambo Senior Secondary School assembly, last Thursday was turned into an awareness campaign as pupils who attended the Safer Internet Day event, addressed the school about the dangers of not using the internet properly.

The aim of the assembly was to relay the message that the pupils learnt.

Pule Hlahane, a teacher at the school said pupils need to use the internet for educational purposes and not bullying, pornography and other things that could be harmful to them.

“There are predators out there and each and all of you need to be careful when using this tool called the internet,” he said.

Hlahane urged pupils to speak to their peers that attended the event as they have been equipped with the tools to assist.

“The internet is a beautiful tool that one can use for educational purposes but not for harmful things,” he said.
