Investigation underway in pupil’s tragic death

Lawnmower operator to continue working until results of investigation are done.

Dikgabane Primary School employee will continue working at the school pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of a pupil at the same school.

This was announced by the Gauteng education minister Barbara Creecy during a media briefing at the school’s premises last Thursday.

“This man will continue working here and we cannot just dismiss him or take any further steps as the department.

“As far as I know, he will continue working here at the school until the results of the investigations are finished.”

Pushed for more questions, Creecy said at that moment there was no way she was going to answer more further questions from the media and she cut the briefing short.

“I was not here when the incident happened and I didn’t see what happened with my eyes, I can only communicate further as soon as our investigation is done, but what I can say is that the assistant will remain working here until we are fully satisfied with the investigations.”

During the press briefing, the assistance was nowhere to be seen as it was reported that he was off sick and traumatised.

“We have also organised the assistance with suitable medical assistance a counselling to help him deal with the trauma, “said Creecy.
