Church gives but needs more

Bread of Life Christian Church lessens the burden.

The Bread of Life Christian Church gave out food parcels to church members but say its not enough to accommodate everyone in the church.

They get their supplies far from Soweto and appeal to the community to assist them in lessening the burden of distance.

The project started about five years ago fetching their supplies from Trade Route Pick and Pay and have been putting a smile on congregants faces every Sunday ever since.

Member of the church committee Mdu Sithole said:

“The food is for everyone in church regardless of your background.

“Our situations and backgrounds are all different so we try to avoid discriminating so that those who need the food the most don’t feel exposed of their situation.

“In addition to the food, we have a monthly handout of clothes for anyone in the church who is in need of clothes”.

Margeret Mbele who is a beneficiary of the project said that the food they get goes a long way because they cover the basic essentials and sometime feels like the church is doing more than meeting them half way.

“The vegetables can last me and my family for a few days, which is a few days of less money spent plus the cookies complete my Sunday because I have a sweet tooth,” Mbele said.

Ngwenya says that they are not necessarily asking for money but they appeal for tangible things like food sponsorship to meet the churches demand.

Sithole adds that not only are they appealing for assistance but they also invite the community to join them in praise and can be found at Zola 1 behind Shoprite after the bridge or contacted on 078 169 1242.
