‘You are who you are’

The School Governing Body honours class of 2013

This past Friday, the Coronationville High School Governing Body (SGB) hosted a graduation ceremony for their matric class of 2013 because of the matric results increased from in 2012 – 65% to 2013-73%.

Water, electricity and social problems were just some of the factors that faced Coronationville High School last year.

“From everything we went through last year and being able to come together this year in goodwill to celebrate and say thank you to the class of 2013 matric’s for the results obtained,” said Nicki Constable.

“This is to motivate the class of 2013 and our current matrics to keep pushing for a better life,” said Bernard Gentle acting principal.

“The school has a lot of challenges and problems and the pupils excelled in the matric results,” said Chahracan Amod chairperson of SGB

The matric results wasn’t the only reason to the school is celebrating but because Keagan Visser who was the top achiever for the district with six distinctions.

“We decided that we need to help Keagan Visser with funding for this university fees and textbooks. Visser is enrolled at Pretoria University and will be studying actuarial science. “This wouldn’t have been possible without external funders that helped with Keagan’s varsity fees,” said Amod.

Teachers were honoured for their role their impact in the pupil’s lives. “The love that never breaks is between teacher and pupil because our children spend more of the time at school,” said Imaam Sheig Bakaie.

Bakaie gave a motivation to passed pupils and current students. “You have completed your matric and now the rest of your life is up to you to invent. “You are who you are, be proud and work hard,” said Bakaie
