Matrics awarded for good results

The top 2013 matric pupils were awarded at Immaculata Secondary School.

The Diepkloof Interdom Churches held the annual award ceremony for the 2013 matric top achievers.

In its fifth year, the Diepkloof Interdom Churches have given out awards to the Diepkloof top pupils.

The secretary of Interdom Thomas Oupa Mojela said that the pupils were chosen because of the number of distinctions they got.

“We want to show young people that if they work hard, they can get rewarded. We are rewarding pupils who succeeded against all odds. Most of the pupils who got rewarded are from disadvantaged families and public school that don’t have a lot of facilities,” he said.

Mojela said that they host the event every year because they are parents.

“We might be part of the church but we are parents first. We want to show our children that we are proud that they have worked hard and deserve to be rewarded,” he said.

Out of the six pupils awarded, two achieved six distinctions each. The Diepkloof Interdom gave them an engraved trophy and R 1 500 each. The other four pupil got R 1 000 each and engraved trophies.
