Man assaulted in open veldt

Two men were stabbed last week in an open field

Residents of Eldorado Proper are living in fear since the recent spike of robberies and assaults. Osmond Goliath was attacked with a gun and knife last Sunday night while walking in his street.

“I was dragged to a veldt, stripped, kicked at and robbed,” Goliath said.

He was robbed of his cellphone, jewellery and bank cards.

His underwear was stuffed in his mouth while Goliath was tied to a tree.

“The two men demanded the pin for my bank cards but I gave them the wrong pin,” Goliath said.

He alleges that one of the men tried to shoot him in his head but the gun was empty, they stabbed him five times.

Goliath’s incident isn’t unique. A man is apparently in intensive care after he was stabbed eight times in the same veldt.

Numerous neighbours have seen two men in their yards.

The tree where Goliath was tied up is surrounded by long grass, used condoms, empty alcohol bottles and clothing.

Goliath says he had no help or feedback from the Eldorado Park police.

“When I arrived at the police station the following morning, the police were sleeping and none of them were helpful.

“I still haven’t heard anything from them,” Goliath said.

Residents have since started a neighbourhood watch hoping to make the area a safe place again.
