"I will be able to sleep in a bed again"

The Diepkloof Square tenants donated home appliances, furniture and food to Marlon Diamond.

Marlon Diamond lost everything when her shack caught fire early last month.

Since then Diamond has been living with her family members. Last Wednesday Morning, the Diepkloof Square management surprised Diamond with a new shack, house appliances and furniture.

The Diepkloof management hired people to erect the shack and hired electricians to correctly connect her electricity.

The overwhelmed Diamond said that she was beyond happy.

“When they called me and told me that they wanted to help, I was not expecting something so big. I will have my privacy again, and sleep on a bed, I am so happy,” she said.

The marketing manager for Diepkloof Square Pearl Gekgobela said that when they heard about the fire, they wanted to help.

“When we heard about the fire, as a community shopping centre, we wanted to help. We talked to the tenants at the mall who contributed,” she said.

A tearful Diamond said that said that she would like to thank the community who helped her.

“I would like to thank everyone in the community for helping us out in our time of need. I will really like to thank community organisations and shops for helping us with food and clothes,” she said.
