Community encouraged to register

Community urged to register to vote this weekend, all the Diepkloof voting stations listed.

The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has set the final date for voting registration on February 8-9.

The Election Administrator in Diepkloof Mpumelelo Memela said that the community must register.

“We encourage people to go and register, we have the right as South African’s to vote and people must exercise their right to vote. We encourage first time voters to register,” he said.

Memela said that even if people don’t want to vote, they should register.

“We have had accidents were people go to the voting stations to vote only to find out that they did not register. In the elections there is election fever and I encourage people who don’t want to vote to register so that if they change their mind, they can still vote,” he said.

Memela said that it is important to tell the IEC if you have moved to another place.

“I urge people who are registered to double check, so that they don’t encounter problems during the elections,” he said.

The Diepkloof registration stations are: Ward 26, Ekuthuleni Primary School, Elitheni Primary School, Khomanani Primary School, Vulamazibuko Primary School, Renalilona Creative Centre, J.Z Mpanza Primary School, Giyani Primary School and the Zone 5 Library.
