Police celebrate National Police Day

The police celebrated National Police Day by visiting Qhobosheane Primary School.

The South African Police celebrated National Police Day on January 27. The Diepkloof police visited schools to celebrate.

The Diepkloof Police spokesperson Phephi Matlou-Mteto said that they were teaching children to take care of themselves.

“We want children to be safe in the community. We told them about the dangers of talking to strangers, going off with strangers and what to do if they find themselves in the situation,” she said.

Matlou-Mteto addressed the Qhobosheane Primary School Grade 7 class about the dangers of drugs.

“On our recent school searches we have found that pupils in Diepkloof have a tendency to take alcohol and drugs to school. We addressed the dangers of using drugs and alcohol and the reoccupation if an underage is found with the drugs and alcohol,” she said.

Matlou-Mteto said that parents, schools and the police must work together to end the trend.

Matlou-Mteto said that if anyone has information about individuals who sell drugs or alcohol to pupils they can report it to the Diepkloof police station on 011 933 7400.
