Murder accused gets 15 years

Murder accused is sentenced to 15 years in prison

Justice has been served in the murder case of Nathaniel Beukes who was killed outside a tavern in Extension Seven in 2012. The case was heard at the Palmridge High Court in November 2013 where the accused was charged with murder. Before the sentencing on January 17, the judge apparently asked Beukes’ mother what sentence should be passed, Ingrid Beukes responded by saying whether he gets 100 years or one year, her only son would never come back to life.-

“I’ll never see him again, hear his voice or see his charming smile,” Ingrid said.-

The accused got a 15 year sentence.-

Shirley Beukes said that she doesn’t rejoice in the heartache of others.-

“I told the accused that I forgave him, love him, I hugged him and my daughters joined.-

“I felt sorry for him but justice has to be served for his actions,” Shirley said.-

She said that he hopes he learns never to make the same mistake again. Shirley said that this should be an eye opener for youth not to mingle with the wrong friends.-

“Life is a precious gift from God, don’t take it for granted,” she said.

She thanks family, friends and residents for their prayers and support.
