Orlando East Councillors along with the Community Policing Forum, Orlando Police, Community development workers, ward committee members and the youth league visited the top performing high schools in Orlando East to congratulate them and to wish them well in 2014.

The top performing matriculants of 2013 were also part of the entourage.

The tour started at Bona High School in Orlando East which attained 76.6 % matric pass rate. Ward 30 Councillor Sechaba Khumalo told the pupils that they should focus on their education.

“The late Nelson Mandela said that it is through education that a domestic workers child can become a pilot,” he said.

He also said they should not be a generation that will rely on government grants and be on the waiting list for RDP housing.

“Get educated so that you can buy your own houses and are able to support yourselves,” he said.
