Family's struggle with blocked pipe

No help for blocked toilet pipes

After numerous attempts to have her blocked pipes unblocked, Carol Carlese had it repaired.

The toilet pipe blocked weeks ago and she claims to have had no help from the council.

“They told me that they are closed for the holidays,” Carol said.

The situation got worse when faeces resurfaced after flushing her toilet.

Carlese and her family were forced to live in their sewage.

“I have been liaising with them throughout and I told Mrs Carlese that there weren’t any contractors from provincial housing,” Councillor Peter Rafferty said.

The family tried using acid but had no success in unblocking the pipe.

They got a plumber who unblocked the pipe but the lid broke that covers a section of the pipe.

The family lives on the top row in a block of flats.

When they flushed, the water would shoot out of a pipe and run down the walls of their neighbours on lower levels.

“We are upset because we never got help,” Carelse said.

The pipe was repaired by a local plumber who volunteered to fix it, Carelse said.

Water would gush out, running down the walls of neighbours.
