Young people must be taught well – Phakathi

Phiri based SASI has kicked off the year with a motivational programme called Siyabangena Youth Project.

The projects aims at gathering young people at the main hall once a month and getting them to interact on social issues affecting their daily lives.

The project founder Bongani Phakathi said a lot needs to be done in assisting young people to lead a positive life.

“This is a project with a mission to change and shape life of the young people in our areas, a lot of social issues has played its role in affecting them and having them losing focus on great thing that would develop themselves, so we want to shape them and guide them all the way.”

The first programme of the year was hosted at Senaoane Community hall on January 3 and that was targeting girls from the age of 13 to 21.

Forming part of this programme which was sponsored by Department of Sports, Arts and Recreation, the youth who attended also participated on playing netball, story reading and dramatisation.

Phakathi said there are and there will be lots of different activities that they will host which will keep young people busy.

“We don’t offer soccer clinics only, we also have other motivational and youth developments activities that we will host throughout the year to make sure that young people are not neglected and are given the best support available in developing their lives.

“Residents who want to join us and developing the lives of young people in our society can visit Kgotso grounds or go to Senaoane Swimming Pool and they will get more information.”
