Siyabonga Secondary happy with pass rate

Deputy principal grateful for the improvement in the school's matric results.

The deputy principal of Siyabonga Secondary School, Lawrence Mokoto said he is grateful for the improvement of the matric results for his school.

The school’s matric percentage increased by 4.4 percent from the 80 percent achieved in 2012.

Mokoto said the 84.4 percent indicates that there is an element of growth in the Grade 12 class.

“I can’t say I am not delighted about the result but is unfortunate that we didn’t reach the target we had set for ourselves.

He said: “Every school wishes to get at least a 100 percent matric pass rate but that has to do with quality work and not just the quantity of those who pass.

Newly elected ANC secretary in Ward 44, Tiro Motaung congratulated the principal and teachers for the sterling job that they did during the academic period.

Motaung said the 4.4 percent increase the school got was not a fluke but an indication of hard work and commitment.

“Congratulations to all the 2013 matriculants who have done us proud,” said Motaung.
