Children given food parcels

Twenty families receive food parcels.

Vusi Mhlanga, CEO of Mthuji Security Company, and Henry Phungo, a community development worker, handed out food parcels to orphans and child-headed families at the Barona Child-Care Centre.

The donors of the food parcels were from Diepkloof Square Pick n’ Pay, Food Lovers Market, Roots and Mthuji Security Company.

Phungo said that the food parcels were given to 20 families.

“We asked Barona to identify orphans and child-headed families. The families were given food parcels that contained meat, vegetables and non-perishable food that we hope will last them until the end of the month,” he said.

Mhlanga said that he got involved with the project so that he could give back to the community.

“There are many families in need in our communities. Our company wanted to give back to the community and help those who cannot afford to buy food in this time of year,” he said.
