Leratong Senior Primary School bids farewell to their teachers

Leratong Senior Primary School in Orlando East held a farewell function for their outstanding teachers.

Leratong Senior Primary School in Orlando East held a farewell function for three of their teachers last Saturday.

Makhantso Hermanus, Pauline Makhado and Elizabeth Moloto were thanked for their years of hard work during a touching farewell ceremony.

Fellow teachers, pupils and parents were also there to bid farewell to the three teachers who they say served selflessly throughout the years.

The principal Sunnyboy Ramokgobathe said that they had to honour the excellent work that the three teachers had displayed throughout the years.

“Some of the teachers that we are honouring today went on pension more than two years ago. We unfortunately did not bid farewell to them then.

“It might be long overdue but we felt we had to say thank for all their hard work and selfless teaching throughout the years,” said Ramokgobathe.

The day was filled with nonstop entertainment from local gospel groups, dance groups and hip hop groups.

Lenesia Hyundai was one on the sponsors of the farewell. Each teacher was picked up from their homes and taken to the farewell with a Hyundai car.

“I feel like such a queen the treatment that we have received today is beyond what I expected. I would like to thank the principal for the work he has done to ensure that today was as spectacular as it was,” said Hermanus.

Hermanus said that since retiring she has not just stayed at home and let her mind wallow away.

She said that she joined Johannesburg retired teachers association as she still wanted to make a difference in her community.

“I have retired but my mind has not retired, I still have skills that I want to share with my community,” she said.
