‘Eskom responsible for wall collapse’

Family wants Eskom to pay now.

The Mahange family wants Eskom to fix their wall after it collapsed when they were replacing the split metering box on October 22.

The electricity box on the corner of Mkhuze Road and Tswime Street had been tripping for some time and at one point it even burnt.

When Eskom went to replace the split metering box, they were relieved that their problems would be over, little did they know that it would be the beginning of their problem.

Gabriel Mahange said: “When Eskom replaced the box, our wall collapsed and they have not come to fix it.

“They keep promising that they will come but they never do.”

Mihloti Mahange said they do not feel safe because anyone can come in the yard.

She said: “Our cars are exposed and they are not protected.

“Why are they not fixing our wall as they had promised?”

When contacted, Eskom promised to make a follow up and see to ensure the wall is fixed.
