Teachers call it quits

Teachers take their final bow.

After decades of teaching, teachers at Sivelile Primary School made their final bow.

Two teachers, Gwen Geran (60) and Monica Talafala (63) have been teaching the Zone Six school for 27 years and 31 years respectively.

At a gathering at school, they were thanked for their contribution to the education.

Geran said: “We are happy that this day has come.

“It is it time for us to relax, we have done all that we had to do.

“I will not have to wake up at 4am”

Talafala said she cannot wait to raise her grandchildren at home and to do things she could not do in all the years she had been a teacher.

Both of them have an interest in gardening, they are looking forward to looking after their gardens.

Flora Madikwa is a parent at the school, she said: “We are so sad that they are leaving the school.

“Both teachers taught me and they are the best.

“I wish they could stay a while longer.”

Another parent, Lorraine Nxazonke, was also taught by both the teachers, she thanked them for the great work they have done to better the education of children.
