Councillor wants sewage bursts fixed urgently

Health concerns over sewage eruption.

Four houses in Doornkop Block 10 were affected by a burst sewer which lasted for over two weeks.

Some toilets in some families were filled with mess, which prevented users from using them.

One resident Khabonina Hlophe said the sewage burst problem was reported to Joburg Water and that a reference number was given to them.

Hlophe said not a week goes by without a sewage burst.

“This affects our health and we fear that our children will suffer since the sewage water mess has covered the street,” said Hlophe.

DA councillor Godfrey Radzilani who was driving through the area said the sewage indeed families were affected.

He urged residents to always report incidents of this nature.

Radzilani said he will do a follow up on the matter to find out if the problem was resolved.
