AB Xuma Primary School in Orlando East held their annual prize giving and Grade 7 farewell ceremony.

AB Xuma Primary School in Orlando East held their annual prize giving and Grade 7 farewell ceremony last Thursday at Communal Hall in Orlando East.

Parents filled the hall to come and witness their children been rewarded for their hard work throughout the year.

The parents could not contain their happiness as their children walked up the stage to receive their certificates and medals.

The ceremony was also to bid farewell to the Grade 7 pupils who will be embarking on a new journey as they will be going to high school.

The Grade R pupils also got a chance to shine as their families witnessed them graduate.

“We hold these awards annually it is our way motivating and congratulating our pupils for their hard work throughout the year. It is also a way of engaging the parents so that they can see their children’s progress,” said school Principal Sipho Malinga.

Malinga told parents that the best way to support their children is not through buying them expensive clothes but by spending time with them reading and assisting them with their school work.

“Children need encouragement from home that is when they excel with their school work. The children who received awards today are not wearing expensive shoes but they spend time on their school work,” said Malinga.

He also said that he is proud of the dedicated and hardworking pupils that his school has produced throughout the years.
