Protea Glen police have issued the festive season tips on how to keep your home safe during these busy days.
Protea Glen police Warrant Officer Nhlanhla Khumalo said residents must install burglar alarm systems to detect unlawful intrusions.
“People must avoid leaving valuable items on window sills and keep their doors locked at all times.
“Doors must be fitted with strong locks, never open doors for strangers and always insist on seeing identification cards of callers who claim to be officials.
“Ask your neighbours to keep an eye on your home when you are not around,” she said.
Khumalo said people must keep valuables and cash in banks and safe deposit boxes and they must report any suspicious characters to the police.
