Soup kitchen treats pupils

Florida Primary School treated pupils of their soup kitchen where they received party packs.

Florida Primary School treated pupils of their soup kitchen to a year-end closing special lunch.

Through sponsorship, the school was able to provide over 700 pupils with a party pack and a meal.

“Once schools closes, chances are many of our pupils won’t get a full nutritious meal.

“The school wants to give them something special before it closes” said Rashied Haffajee, a teacher from the school.

Florida Primary tries to provide a nutritional meal daily with the limited supplies they have because it is the excitement in the pupils’ faces that keep the kitchen running.

“They enjoy and appreciate the meals,” Haffajee said.

He said that teaching a hungry child is challenging because they have little ambition. Teachers strive to encourage pupils and act as support for them.

The soup kitchen gave pupils a more hearty meal on Friday at the closing lunch.
