Councillor applauded for a new park in Chiawelo

Illegally created dumping site next to Green Church will be turned into a community development feature.

Chiawelo Ward 12 councillor Joe Nemaungani announced that the space between Green Church and Nhlanhla’s Shops will be turned into Community Park at a community meeting at Chiawelo Community Centre (CCC).

Though the councillor didn’t mention the exact date when the construction will commence.

“I’m happy to announce that once again, the City of Johannesburg has approved the proposal to finally have a park here in my ward for all people living and visiting Chiawelo.

“Though it took time to convince the city, finally they have agreed and approved the proposal and I’m sure that by early 2014 the construction will commence.”

In the last two years, most of the huge projects that happened in Chiawelo included, roads and streets renovations, news street lights installation, new pedestrian’s side pavements, greening most of local soccer pitches and latest CCC refurbishment project.

“This is my area and I’m always ready and willing to develop it and make sure that all my people are happy and living peacefully and enjoy all the benefits coming from the Government that they voted for.

“So even now I’m still saying that my door is always open for any suggestions, guidance and advices as to how we can work together develop Chiawelo and make it one of the greatest areas in Soweto.”
