Talks inspire youth creativity

Soweto Theatre sees over 200 budding entrepreneurs gather for inspirational talks.

Over 200 young aspiring entrepreneurs gathered at the Soweto Theatre last Saturday for inspirational talks and networking with people from different fields of business.

The theme of the night was ‘Creativity – the answer to all questions’, with talks and speeches centred on how creativity can be used change the face and nature of business.

Topics included lasers, games, sexuality, film, entrepreneurship, medicine, plastic surgery and scuba diving.

Xolisa Dyeshana, chairman of the Loerie Awards and creative director of Joe Public, spoke on the importance of adequate marketing of a product and the impact of advertising.

Through his experience, Dyeshana has adopted a philosophy concerned with excessive marketing and creative advertising to establish a brand and create a sentiment among consumers which convinces them that your product is the preferred choice.

Easy as it sounds, Dyeshana stressed the importance of letting your creativity go free, maintaining focus and dedicating time and resources to a vision you believe in.

Lunch was served after which the audience was entertained with poetry, followed by world renowned laser breakthrough scientist Sandile Ngcobo.

Tshepo Sithole-Modisane spoke about his experience as one half of the first gay couple to marry in a traditional African ceremony.

With a different shade of creativity, Preetesh Sewraj a brand archaeologist for his own products, marvelled the crowd with two distinctive products.

The first was odourless paint which when applied dries quickly and allows people to occupy a painted room immediately.

The second was maize meal which can be ready and cooked within two minutes.

The talk aimed inspiring ways of changing how business is done and adding creativity as main ingredient to a successful business.
