CEO motivates young people

Criminal becomes CEO of a security company.

From a criminal to CEO of a security company and a managing director of a construction company, Vusi Mhlanga has taken motivating young people as his new venture.

Mhlanga visited the Soweto Empowerment Zone in Zone 6 to motivate young people who are currently learning through a learnership.

Addressing the class, Mhlanga said that the pupils have a second chance to better their lives.

“When you get opportunities, use them wisely because they won’t come again. Be prepared to work hard, be dedicated, be responsible to get the best of the opportunity,” he said.

Mhlanga shared his life story and how he managed to turn his life around.

“I was raised by a single mother and sometimes we didn’t have enough food. I used to go to school with a hungry stomach and it was hard to focus – which lead me to being involved in crime,” he said.

Now a successful businessman, Mhlanga said that he wants young people to follow his lead.

“If I can do it, anyone can. If young people are determined to be successful there is nothing to stop them,” he said.

After addressing the class Mhlanga promised the pupils that he would give the top performer R5 000.
