‘Bashes won’t be tolerated’

“Anybody found at a bash will be arrested and equipment and alcohol will be confiscated,”

Eldorado Park CPF will take a zero tolerance approach to out of control parties involving underage residents (called bashes) this festive season.

“The CPF will instruct police and the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) to put an immediate end to all bashes throughout the festive season, starting this month.

“Anybody found at a bash will be arrested and equipment and alcohol will be confiscated,” warns Victor Olivier, CPF chairperson.

They will decline any applications for bashes because it is from bashes that youth go missing, domestic violence occurs and there is an increase in crime, Olivier said.

The CPF will be having a youth awareness campaign throughout the holiday season and advices residents on the following:

– Always walk in groups

– Make sure your guardians know where you are if not at home

– Parents should have contact numbers of friends that their children will be with

– Have clean fun- don’t abuse alcohol and don’t take drugs

– Always make sure that you know how and with who you will be going home after parties. If you are stranded phone the police and ask for help

– Don’t be scared to say no

– Don’t walk through areas that are dark and unsafe

– Report any strange people and activities to the police

– When going on holiday, home owners should have a responsible person looking after their homes and make it known to trustworthy neighbours

– When consuming alcohol, do it responsibly

– Be safe. Stay safe. Live safe

Extra patrollers will be deployed, CPF is appealing to residents to respect patrollers and work together with them.

“Let’s restore the dream to bring back a safer Eldos,” Olivier said.
