‘Stay Clean’

With the scourge of drugs that has affected communities around the world, the Riverlea Community Aerobics Club has decided to change this scourge with aerobics.

On Saturday the Riverlea Aerobic Club hosted an aerobics marathon at the Riverlea Community hall.

This is the club’s ninth aerobics marathon.

The event is aimed at raising funds for the club and creating awareness in the community regarding the surge in drug and alcohol abuse.

This year their theme was ‘Stay clean’.

“We believe that through this venture, we can reach out to our community by creating an awareness of the importance of health and fitness.

“It was very disconcerting and disappointing to note that the support from our community at this event was very poor,” said Derrick Lewis one of the organisers.

“It is clear that all communities are witnessing the moral decay of our youth and the Riverlea Community Aerobic Club (RCAC) would like to invite and challenge our parents and other sporting committees in Riverlea, to find a way to save our children and get Riverlea back to where it was,” said Lewis.

Prizes were handed out to every participant as most of the people left the event with a prize.

Riverlea Senior Social Club and Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (AWANA) have been adopted by the Aerobics club as one initiative to investing back to the community.

The senior citizens had refreshments on sale in order to pay for their holiday to Cape Town.

The AWANA children had a good aerobic display with the ‘Stay Clean’ T-Shirts sponsored by the club.

The RCAC has expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported the event.
