Criminals to spend festive behind bars

Police urge residents not to protect criminals.

In a week long campaign, Moroka Police Station officers arrested more than 30 suspects for different crimes in the areas they are policing.

Out of all the arrested suspects, the station communications officer John Serala said: “29 of the arrested suspects were for dealing drugs and 31 were arrested for selling Nyaope.

“During the campaign, we also confiscated dangerous weapons and knives nearly 66 in total.

“Since the campaign has been a great success, we will continue with it and make sure that we visit other areas.”

Serala said, in doing so, residents are urged to join in the campaign and help them trace and catch criminals.

“Criminals are everywhere in the streets and they are well known by residents, so we need residents to come forward with information and tips that will help us trace and arrest criminals.

“We have heard enough now about these people who traumatise society and get away with the crimes they commit, so it is important that residents start volunteering and joining us at all crime fighting campaigns.”
